Ever After

This path somehow seems familiar
                                                                        Have I been here before?
I followed the bread crumbs – turned mold
Down a yellow brick road
                                                                        Where are you taking me?
Around turns and bends
Under branches and over roots
Careful not to fall –
For the truth…
                                                                        Everyone seems to know me…
Or they think they do
Their faces are unfamiliar
Their smiles, uninviting…
And they gather all around
                                                                        And now I can’t breathe!
I tried to escape, but fell down a hole
All about me now
Are fiends like friends with
Cheshire smiles making me cringe…
                                                                        I just want this all to end…
Behind the curtain--
Into the woods--
